Your ability to perform well in life and work is intrinsically linked to your state of well-being…

…yet the skills to be resilient in a Third Culture World are not innate, they must be learned and experienced to be remembered and engaged. That is what Satori retreat is all about…

In this 7 day, residential experience you will explore the archaeology of balance and resilience.

Each day of the program is experienced as a life in balance should be:  dining on wholesome food, engaging yourself creatively and intellectually, enjoying indoor and outdoor activity, relishing in solitude and relaxation as well as making connections to others. You will walk away having built your own ‘tool box’ of resources to help you achieve sense of balance in your regular life, and the determination to cultivate resilience.

The curriculum is customized to meet your needs.

The specific content of each process is determined by the requirements of the group and by the information gathered during the pre-process period. Where there is need, there will be focus. Satori facilitators are always responsive to the dynamics of each group as they evolve. The tools you will be introduced to were chosen to suit global servants: they are scalable (they require only as much time as you have to give them) they are flexible (they can be practiced anytime, anywhere) they are feasible(they are not expensive and do not involve expensive equipment) and proven (benefits are well documented and post-process support is readily available).

During the process, you will be exposed to a variety of disciplines and encouraged to experiment with a range of tools; but you decide what works for you.

The following is a sampling of the various tools that participants may be encouraged to explore:

  Breath work
Connecting with your creative self (music, writing, visual arts, photography)
Anger and stress management techniques for work and home
Culinary adventure: Balanced Nutrition and food for health in the field
  Strategies for building community overseas
Elements of a personal spiritual practice*
Integrative physical practices (yoga, sandbagging, chi gong, ecstatic dance)**
  Play/adventure/fun! (biking, hiking, swimming)**
Connecting with the natural and cultural world around us
Intellectual inquiry (sacred and secular reading lists, documentary viewing, discussion)
Psychological inquiry (written reflection, dream work, trauma work)
  Cognitive restructuring (reversing negative/destructive thinking)
Healing technologies (Applied kinesiology, complementary medicine, massage)

You will walk away having built your own ‘tool box’ for balance and resilience, and the motivation to use it.

At Satori we understand that the hardest part of building a practice for personal resilience in follow-though on using the tools you have learned once you go home. That’s why we provide support networks and follow-up resources to guide you once you have completed the program.

Location

Given its many treasures, it is not surprising that Bali has often been called the ‘island of the gods’, shangri-la, and ‘the last paradise’.  It lies between Java, the most highly populated and influential of all the Indonesian islands, and Lombok, one of the quieter and less developed islands.

Although it is small-- just 140 Km by 80 Km—it is rich with possibilities for the traveller. You can enjoy everything from surfing, sunbathing and shopping on one end of the spectrum, to solitude, reflection and serenity on the other. It is a tropical and equatorial island, inhabited by a remarkably artistic people who have seamlessly woven ceremony and creativity into their everyday life. It is distinct in the Indonesian archipelago for its culture and beauty, and makes the perfect place to relax and be reminded of what really matters.

Ubud-- where the retreats take place-- is an area with array of practitioners in the healing arts. Should you desire it, you may also make use of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Craniosacral Massage, Neuro-linguistic Therapy, Traditional Psychology and more while you are on the program (at additional charge).

We encourage you to explore the island and all it has to offer and get a feel for its uniqueness. We would be happy to offer suggestions for places to visit and things to do before or after you have completed your experience with Satori Worldwide. Alternatively, you can visit www.indo.com or www.all-bali.com for travel information.

If you would like more specific information about the climate and conditions to expect while you are with Satori Worldwide, please contact us to request a pre-process information package.
